Ok so this week it is more about the songs that I have been listening to over and over. After this post I will post the Spotify playlist and you can listen to them all. If you need an invite still let me know and I’ll hook you up!

1. She Will- Lil Wayne The Carter IV… After giving this CD a good listen I am sure it will grow on me but so far there are only a few tracks that I can say I love. “She Will” is Lil Wayne ft. Drake and it really sounds more like a Drake song so no surprise that I like it as I can’t wait for Drakes new album. As I said I am sure that it will grow on me but I had much higher hopes for The Carter V!

2. Novacane- Frank Ocean… I had no idea who frank ocean was until the Jay-Z and Kanye CD came out but have to say he is soon becoming a top track in the car and am looking forward to more music from him! I love the beat and the overall sound of the track… Not safe to play at work but really great and worth a listen.

3. Brand New Day- Outasight… Last week I was watching a new YouTube vlog by Ray Williams J and stumbled upon “Outasight”. I am a huge fan of Citizen Cope and G. Love and think that Outasight is a great mix between the two! His voice is great and the use of real instruments is really rare these days.

4. I Walked- Sufjan Stevens… I have been a fan of Sufjan Stevens for a long time and have to say this song I had not heard before and love it. Mellow and the echo of his voice are winning in my book!

5. Booty Call- G. Love… I think I went to see G. Love when I was in 7th grade and have loved the music from that point on! I recently saw the movie Friends With Benifits and this was in the movie and made me smile as I had not heard it forever… also a neighbor was playing it the other day so I had to add it!

6. Sail- AWOLNATION… just heard this yesterday randomly but really like it… no clue who the band is or where they come from but will check out more music to se if I like them and let you know! In the meantime give them a listen and see what you think. It reminds me of a band called V.A.S.T. but a bit more mellow.

7. Live In A Van- Burlap To Cashmere… This reminds me of Mumford and Sons and I just like the happy sound and the message that the guy is living in a van! Although I don’t live in a van I am a bit more more nomadic then the rest of the world so I like it!

8. Rearrange- Miles Kane… I got this off a playlist from a person that when it comes to music I trust her taste till the day I die. I like the old school sound and it also kind of reminds me of Miike Snow…

9.Civilian- Wye Oak… Just love the voice and the tambourine! Also I am a fan of the haunting sound of the song. Great for night driving along the coast!

10. The Chase Is On- Hoodie Allen… Also came from when I was watching the Vlog from Ray William J. He really uses some great music in his Vlog’s! I also think this was used in the MTV show Skins but could be wrong… Not to bad for a white kid!

11. Learning to Love Again- Mat Kearney… The first time I heard Mat I thought it was Counting Crows. I have loved the Counting Crows for ever so there is no question that I am a fan of Mat Kearney.

Well that is most of what I am listening to this week! I hope that you enjoy and find someone new that you love and music is a big part of my life and I love to share what I find!

Drake, who was all over the 2011 BET Awards last night, is battling with Universal Music Group, his parent label. It’s an age-old, push and pull situation regarding the early release of new music. Drake just wants to get the fans excited; problem is it terrifies the label, who is trying to prevent leaks that damage record selling potential!

On Thursday, he let loose on Twitter, posting an angry message: “Universal needs to stop taking my f—ing songs down. I am doing this for the people not for your label.” Drake was apparently pissed that the company removed songs that he posted for fans to listen to and to help build hype for his upcoming second album, ‘Take Care.’ The label is obviously working to protect its investment and the assets that are new Drake songs to help prevent widespread piracy, which will trickle down and lessen record sales.

However, in the hip-hop scene, leaks and early looks and listens are crucial in building and maximizing hype. Drake’s ‘Thank Me Later’ was a massive success, enjoying one of the best first week sales tallies of 2010, and UMG no doubt is looking for a repeat with ‘Take Care.’

Drake is looking out for his fans. The label is looking out for Drake, in their own way. There is no clear winner here, but Drake certainly isn’t a happy camper.

Ok I have to say I am really liking the way this new Drake album is coming together! Here is a new slow track from Drake called “Trust issues”. What a nice way to start off Monday, some tea, oatmeal, and some Drake! Happy Monday!

So I’m starting off this new format music Monday with a new track from the upcoming Drake album “Take Care” . The track, I believe called Marvin’s Room is a slow song with the focus on Drake calling his ex and saying that she can do better. It’s a mix of clips of a cell phone conversation and Drake’s smooth lines… I think that this is a great example of his style and has a really great beat!

I am a really big fan of his first album So Far Gone, and, Thank Me Later and think this album is going to be great! Give it a listen and let me know what you think…
