Ok so this week it is more about the songs that I have been listening to over and over. After this post I will post the Spotify playlist and you can listen to them all. If you need an invite still let me know and I’ll hook you up!

1. She Will- Lil Wayne The Carter IV… After giving this CD a good listen I am sure it will grow on me but so far there are only a few tracks that I can say I love. “She Will” is Lil Wayne ft. Drake and it really sounds more like a Drake song so no surprise that I like it as I can’t wait for Drakes new album. As I said I am sure that it will grow on me but I had much higher hopes for The Carter V!

2. Novacane- Frank Ocean… I had no idea who frank ocean was until the Jay-Z and Kanye CD came out but have to say he is soon becoming a top track in the car and am looking forward to more music from him! I love the beat and the overall sound of the track… Not safe to play at work but really great and worth a listen.

3. Brand New Day- Outasight… Last week I was watching a new YouTube vlog by Ray Williams J and stumbled upon “Outasight”. I am a huge fan of Citizen Cope and G. Love and think that Outasight is a great mix between the two! His voice is great and the use of real instruments is really rare these days.

4. I Walked- Sufjan Stevens… I have been a fan of Sufjan Stevens for a long time and have to say this song I had not heard before and love it. Mellow and the echo of his voice are winning in my book!

5. Booty Call- G. Love… I think I went to see G. Love when I was in 7th grade and have loved the music from that point on! I recently saw the movie Friends With Benifits and this was in the movie and made me smile as I had not heard it forever… also a neighbor was playing it the other day so I had to add it!

6. Sail- AWOLNATION… just heard this yesterday randomly but really like it… no clue who the band is or where they come from but will check out more music to se if I like them and let you know! In the meantime give them a listen and see what you think. It reminds me of a band called V.A.S.T. but a bit more mellow.

7. Live In A Van- Burlap To Cashmere… This reminds me of Mumford and Sons and I just like the happy sound and the message that the guy is living in a van! Although I don’t live in a van I am a bit more more nomadic then the rest of the world so I like it!

8. Rearrange- Miles Kane… I got this off a playlist from a person that when it comes to music I trust her taste till the day I die. I like the old school sound and it also kind of reminds me of Miike Snow…

9.Civilian- Wye Oak… Just love the voice and the tambourine! Also I am a fan of the haunting sound of the song. Great for night driving along the coast!

10. The Chase Is On- Hoodie Allen… Also came from when I was watching the Vlog from Ray William J. He really uses some great music in his Vlog’s! I also think this was used in the MTV show Skins but could be wrong… Not to bad for a white kid!

11. Learning to Love Again- Mat Kearney… The first time I heard Mat I thought it was Counting Crows. I have loved the Counting Crows for ever so there is no question that I am a fan of Mat Kearney.

Well that is most of what I am listening to this week! I hope that you enjoy and find someone new that you love and music is a big part of my life and I love to share what I find!

I know this will sound funny but I really want a picnic basket! I was browsing through the in-flight reading from Sun Country and they have an article all about picnics and all the gear you need! It made me think I can’t remember the last time that I went on a picnic and now I am on the west coast a beach picnic sounds even better!

So the Rolls-Royce of picnic hampers/ baskets is a willow basket with everything from china and flatware to corkscrew, cutting board, and salt & pepper shakers. They say a basket like this will set you back around 319$ sounds expensive but think of all the memories… Cheesy I know… I am also in need of a bocce ball set 140$ they say and a Spanish leather wine pouch 79.99$… This is getting expensive but maybe less expensive options are available… Not a need to be to concerned about this right now as I live more nomadically at the moment but still a reminder to do something new and different is always good and it is great to think for the future!

Picnic basket mentioned in magazine is at brookstone.com

Bocce ball set is at bocceballsets.com

Leather wine pouch can be found at winebotas.com

Happy picnicking!

Ok so time to talk movies for a quick second… Recently I have seen Crazy. Stupid. Love and Friends with Benefits. I had been waiting from the first preview I saw of Crazy. Stupid. Love to see the movie and was not let down at all. The combination of director, actors, and writers were perfect and I would even go see it again in the theater as I think it would get better the second time. The multiple story lines remind me of the film Love Actually which is one of my top movies and also a movie I saw a total of 9 times in the cinema… Yep I think it is that good and I kind of am a sucker for romantic moments as I believe in love. Crazy. Stupid. Love was great in this multiple storyline way and I never felt lost or confused. The chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Emma stone was amazing as was the dialogue between them! I want to tell every to go see this however if you have recently gone through a break up or divorce this might not be the right choice as it tends to pull on those heart strings a bit, at the same time though it might give you a new outlook on your situation and you might rethink things a bit. As I said go see this and you will not be sorry!

Now on to Friends with benefits… Loved it as well! The chemistry between Justin And Mila was great and loved the way they showed parts of the city of New York and Los Angeles that you don’t normally see! The comedy of Justin Timberlake reminded me of him on SNL and I thought the reactions from him were classic! I have no problem saying that in the end I was a little teary due to my life but still if your into true romantic comedies this is a do not miss!

This upcoming week I plan on seeing a movie or two as the brand new theater in Minnesota is 6$ a ticket compared to LA’s 10-15$ so I have to take advantage well I am here. I’ll let you know what I saw and give my 2¢… Any recommendations for movies to see?

Just got done with Crazy Stupid Love and thought it was really good! It reminded me of a mini Love Actually with numerous story lines but they all seemed to work and blend great! This is the kind of movie that the writer, cast, and director all were a great match! If you have the time I have to say it is worth your time and money…

1: Be authentic. The most powerful asset you have is your individuality, what makes you unique. It’s time to stop listening to others on what you should do.

2: Work harder than anyone else and you will always benefit from the effort.

3: Get off the computer and connect with real people and culture. Life is visceral.

4: Constantly improve your craft. Make things with your hands. Innovation in thinking is not enough.

5: Travel as much as you can. It is a humbling and inspiring experience to learn just how much you don’t know.

6: Being original is still king, especially in this tech-driven, group-grope world.

7: Try not to work for stupid people or you’ll soon become one of them.

8: Instinct and intuition are all-powerful. Learn to trust them.

9: The Golden Rule actually works. Do good.

10: If all else fails, No. 2 is the greatest competitive advantage of any career

Going my own way…

So the last couple of months I have been doing a lot of traveling and thinking, and the only thing that really makes sense to me is that when given the option of infinity your decision is really hard. I mean anything is possible and I just have to pick what comes next the trouble is I’m not sure. It is really hard to think your life is going one way and then have the rug pulled out and you are left to really just figure it out. Everyone wants to help and has what they think you should do but really what you need to do is listen to yourself pick a direction and go.

The tough part of picking a direction and going is that as social people we rely on people to give input and support “your plan” and when you go through a huge life shift it is really hard and you want someone to tell you that your next step is right. The problem with that is close members of family and friends when presented with your idea are really looking at it from their life perspective and not yours so really they are not a fair person to ask for reassurance. So really that leaves you to listening to yourself and sometimes second guessing…

I wish that I never went through what I did and that everything would be fine but at the same time I am very happy that I did! In the end I know that I will be a stronger person and no matter what I know I will come out ok. I have learned that I can always go to my family because not only do they love me but will always be there! I have also learned that I have some of the most amazing friends that one person could have! I am so lucky and blessed to know all of them and although I don’t call all the time I know that they know to call whenever they need anything and I will be there for them as they have been for me. I feel that it might be cheesy to say but I feel like I can see clearly now the rain is gone.

As for what is next I’m not quite sure… But that is ok! I know that everything will work out and as I say “what happens, happens” so no big deal. I have been made a contributor to the drinking made easy blog and will be writing a post twice a month for them. I also know that I just need some time for me and I think I am going to take it. I’m going to say right now that due to everything that I have been through I do have times where I just cut people off and want to be alone… I am not mad, sad, or angry with anybody just sometimes it is good to get away from everything and think! I really want to keep up with writing more on this blog and will do my best to do so. I hope you tell your friends and family that you love them often and remember that if you ever come to a split in the road of life don’t panic just go with the one that you feel is the best!

It is funny because one of the bloggers that I know and read often said that for awhile she was like a gypsy and just spent time between places… In a way I can relate in a nomadic way. You almost don’t feel home unless you’re moving. Maybe it is time for a new blog, modern nomad. Well I wish you all the best and to anyone who reads this follow your own path and let no one control your future!
