It’s Miller Time! (from GQ)
After getting his footing in Barker Black, Kirk Miller stepped it up another notch with Miller’s Oath, a custom-suiting shop in Manhattan that he opened this year. Yes, it’s dandy-ish, but not Guy Ritchie wannabe-gangster-ish. “Iridescent lining?” Kirk says. “Not on the menu.” In other words, the style isn’t in your face. Saying something louder doesn’t mean you’re right.
How do you ID a suit by Miller? Reverse pleats, ticket pockets, belt-bucking side tabs, and a jacket that’s not too short, not too long. He’s also fond of fabrics that are a little heftier and can take a beating.
Miller’s ties are stamped with pickaxes, a reference to the general store his great-grandpap ran in gold rush-era South Dakota. “They’re hardcore,” he says, “but in a subtle way.”
The house shirt features a rounded spread collar, small enough to encourage a moderate-size tie and knot. “I really loathe those huge, thick knots,” Miller says.
It’s so great to see someone from my hometown do so well. I have been following Kirk Miller from his days at Barker Black and before that I always looked up to him on the soccer field as a player that I would like to be like. A wonderful person and amazing designer, I wish him all the luck in the world! I will be sure to stop in and see the shop next time I am in NYC and let you know what I think! If you would like contact information for the store it is:

Could of used this last night at The Duke of LA’s dinner party towards the end of the night!!! Ha ha ha… M and I had some trouble…
Ok so this week it is more about the songs that I have been listening to over and over. After this post I will post the Spotify playlist and you can listen to them all. If you need an invite still let me know and I’ll hook you up!
1. She Will- Lil Wayne The Carter IV… After giving this CD a good listen I am sure it will grow on me but so far there are only a few tracks that I can say I love. “She Will” is Lil Wayne ft. Drake and it really sounds more like a Drake song so no surprise that I like it as I can’t wait for Drakes new album. As I said I am sure that it will grow on me but I had much higher hopes for The Carter V!
2. Novacane- Frank Ocean… I had no idea who frank ocean was until the Jay-Z and Kanye CD came out but have to say he is soon becoming a top track in the car and am looking forward to more music from him! I love the beat and the overall sound of the track… Not safe to play at work but really great and worth a listen.
3. Brand New Day- Outasight… Last week I was watching a new YouTube vlog by Ray Williams J and stumbled upon “Outasight”. I am a huge fan of Citizen Cope and G. Love and think that Outasight is a great mix between the two! His voice is great and the use of real instruments is really rare these days.
4. I Walked- Sufjan Stevens… I have been a fan of Sufjan Stevens for a long time and have to say this song I had not heard before and love it. Mellow and the echo of his voice are winning in my book!
5. Booty Call- G. Love… I think I went to see G. Love when I was in 7th grade and have loved the music from that point on! I recently saw the movie Friends With Benifits and this was in the movie and made me smile as I had not heard it forever… also a neighbor was playing it the other day so I had to add it!
6. Sail- AWOLNATION… just heard this yesterday randomly but really like it… no clue who the band is or where they come from but will check out more music to se if I like them and let you know! In the meantime give them a listen and see what you think. It reminds me of a band called V.A.S.T. but a bit more mellow.
7. Live In A Van- Burlap To Cashmere… This reminds me of Mumford and Sons and I just like the happy sound and the message that the guy is living in a van! Although I don’t live in a van I am a bit more more nomadic then the rest of the world so I like it!
8. Rearrange- Miles Kane… I got this off a playlist from a person that when it comes to music I trust her taste till the day I die. I like the old school sound and it also kind of reminds me of Miike Snow…
9.Civilian- Wye Oak… Just love the voice and the tambourine! Also I am a fan of the haunting sound of the song. Great for night driving along the coast!
10. The Chase Is On- Hoodie Allen… Also came from when I was watching the Vlog from Ray William J. He really uses some great music in his Vlog’s! I also think this was used in the MTV show Skins but could be wrong… Not to bad for a white kid!
11. Learning to Love Again- Mat Kearney… The first time I heard Mat I thought it was Counting Crows. I have loved the Counting Crows for ever so there is no question that I am a fan of Mat Kearney.
Well that is most of what I am listening to this week! I hope that you enjoy and find someone new that you love and music is a big part of my life and I love to share what I find!
