Ok so time to talk movies for a quick second… Recently I have seen Crazy. Stupid. Love and Friends with Benefits. I had been waiting from the first preview I saw of Crazy. Stupid. Love to see the movie and was not let down at all. The combination of director, actors, and writers were perfect and I would even go see it again in the theater as I think it would get better the second time. The multiple story lines remind me of the film Love Actually which is one of my top movies and also a movie I saw a total of 9 times in the cinema… Yep I think it is that good and I kind of am a sucker for romantic moments as I believe in love. Crazy. Stupid. Love was great in this multiple storyline way and I never felt lost or confused. The chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Emma stone was amazing as was the dialogue between them! I want to tell every to go see this however if you have recently gone through a break up or divorce this might not be the right choice as it tends to pull on those heart strings a bit, at the same time though it might give you a new outlook on your situation and you might rethink things a bit. As I said go see this and you will not be sorry!

Now on to Friends with benefits… Loved it as well! The chemistry between Justin And Mila was great and loved the way they showed parts of the city of New York and Los Angeles that you don’t normally see! The comedy of Justin Timberlake reminded me of him on SNL and I thought the reactions from him were classic! I have no problem saying that in the end I was a little teary due to my life but still if your into true romantic comedies this is a do not miss!

This upcoming week I plan on seeing a movie or two as the brand new theater in Minnesota is 6$ a ticket compared to LA’s 10-15$ so I have to take advantage well I am here. I’ll let you know what I saw and give my 2¢… Any recommendations for movies to see?

I know, I know I have not been keeping up with the blog like I said I wanted to. The truth is I’ve been really busy and have not had the time. However it is time to start back up and play some catch up!

So as I type this I am on a flight from Los Angeles to Minneapolis for my fathers 70th birthday! I know this will be bias but I really do have the greatest dad in the world! He is the man I go to when I have a question about life and one of the people that I look to as not only a father but an incredible role model and mentor! He always thought that he would die young due to his parents dying young however a conversation with a Hindu spiritual advisor and some living right have made him in great health and looking like he will be around many more years to come. He is my best friend and the worlds greatest dad! So cheesy yet so true…

I am so happy that I get to spend time back in Minnesota with my wonderful friends and amazing family! I love the fact that I call Minnesota my home state… it was a wonderful place to grow up and even though at the moment I live a nomadic lifestyle I always am glad to return to the Midwest!!! The people are kind, genuine, and the drinks are cheap! Ha ha ha

I’ll be posting more photos and Minnesota related things as my trip progresses and will keep in touch… Wishing all a very happy weekend and life in general! Cheers…

Wildside feat. Simone Stevens

Thanks to @marklennonmusic this Brings me back to my days spent in colorado and falling in love with bluegrass!

From the website of Mark Lennon:

The Mark Lennon Band blindsides Los Angeles with their third albumDown the Mountain. Sun drenched city streets set the scene for songs of lost love, reflection, family, and longing for the South.

“I grew up on hippie music and bluegrass, so I like when music has great lyrics but also jams out,” says Lennon, who still considers North Carolina his home. “I am proud of our musical upbringing. We lived in a little speck-on-a-map town, but always had some amazing bands passing through.”

A Los Angeles transplant, Lennon has lived in Southern California for the past seven years where he has teamed up with Jacob Morgan, Jerry Zacarias, and Dean Vivirito to combine their folk, bluegrass, classic country, and rock and roll influences. The Mark Lennon Band brings together a diverse group of musicians from a variety of backgrounds, creating a sound only found on Down the Mountain.

Time to get creative!!!

When I was recently in LA I got to see something very special, I got to see a three day old original Banksy. Now for those of you who have no clue what I am talking about let me explain. Ok so Banksy is a street artist from Bristol, England who no one knows his identify and has been doing political and just fun graffiti for years. From the streets of London to Palestine he really gets around and does some great work! So it is not really a surprise that he makes a stop in Hollywood, as this is not his first time here! However it is the first time he has had a documentary nominated for an Oscar (even though he lost). Ok I am kind of getting of topic so maybe I will say see “exit through the gift shop” and you will get it.

So the point is with him being in town I got to see a fresh price and I was very excited to say the least! It also got me thinking about how in the past my creativeness has been put to the side. I did make 2 t-shirts awhile back with large playing cards on the side using a stencil and fabric paint but other than that I have not really done that much creatively. I think that this really needs to change! Not that I am going to be selling my work or anything but just coming up with the idea and executing it is the point.

This weekend I got to see an old friend who is now doing interiors in LA, and well sitting with her and The Duke of LA we started talking about inspiration and she expressed that on her computer she keeps a file for articles, photos, and whatever else she finds that inspires her. This got me thinking about how I have some projects that I have wanted to do and also got me talking about how I like kind of creepy art. Now by creepy I don’t mean sick but just the strange.

I think my first one is going to be mixed media paint and paste as I call it. As soon as I am done I will post and see what you think. It is just really nice to get some creative juices flowing and I am thankful for the inspiration to do so. I also have to say that my father has been a huge inspiration in art. I remember him on family vacations when I was younger on the beach painting with watercolors and was sad when he stopped because I think work got in the way. Now retired he has time and not only has picked it back up but also paints Sumi-e now and you can see his work time to time on his blog.

So I guess the point is get out and make, do, or create something I know that it will take you back to a time when you had the time to do the things you loved to do not had to do…

So I decided to get away for a bit with a last minute travel deal from Travelocity. It is funny how much travel has changed from when I was a little kid. From security lines to on flight service it is all different and I am not talking about for the good. Look I understand that there has to be things done to make sure that we are all safe and get to where we are going but really you can be nice about it.

Speaking of people and being not happy that brings me to the flight attendants. I remember when I was little and they would do the safety demonstration with a smile and  laugh because they thought it was funny but no more! Now they play the recorded message and frown well they show non enthusiastic hand gestures. The best part is when the lady comes on after the message has played out telling me that the plane has 3 sets of bathrooms one is in first class and the other ones are in coach. Then she proceeds to tell us for our safety we have to use the bathroom in our class  and that this is beneficial for everybody… OK…

Into the flight now is time for drinks and snacks… We are notified from the overhead speaker that credit cards are the only form of payment and that cash is no way taken due to again safety. Funny because these days like I really want to buy a cheese and fruit tray for 8 dollars. Oh well I will have to wait for lunch.

Now I don’t want you to think that I hate traveling and am just hating all the way around but I am saying to the people that work in this field that I think they really need to step up your customer service game and if you can’t or are unhappy at your job then quit and go after what you love doing… It is never to early to start! Also for the mover and shakers that read this blog I want my own airlines back! I believe that people would pay a bit more to get free checked bags, food that doesn’t cost extra and on a three hour flight some sort of in-flight entertainment. Free WI-FI as well would be awesome and should just be included in the fees considering that almost all the people on my flight today have a smart phone or laptop. I think they would be ok paying the fee when they buy the ticket.

If anyone wants to start an airline that charges a bit more but gives all the services for free and treats the customer how they would like to be treated let me know. All I would like is a mention and you are welcome to use the idea! I hope that any one reading this has a great weekend and that you enjoy life!
